College of Arts and Science: Miami University in Oxford, Ohio invites applications for the Walter E. Havighurst Professor and Director of the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies, with appointment to begin in Fall of 2016. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in a Humanities or Social Science discipline. The successful candidate will teach in Russian, Soviet or post-Soviet Studies, maintain an active research agenda, and provide scholarly and administrative leadership for the Havighurst Center.
Qualified candidates should be internationally recognized scholars and excellent teachers in a field of Russian, Soviet or post-Soviet studies, and should have a teaching and scholarly record commensurate with the appointment of a full professor in a humanities or social science department. Strong candidates will have a background in working in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches, and will study some aspect of Soviet- or post-Soviet –American relations.

The Havighurst Center is an endowed center. Faculty affiliated with the Center hold appointments in several departments throughout the College of Arts and Science. The Center supports departments in offering undergraduate curricula in Soviet and post-Soviet studies, including the major in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. The Center offers a graduate certificate, post-doctoral fellowships, and undergraduate scholarships. It sponsors intellectual and cultural programming for university and general audiences.
